I love the Baby Cow Heads. I bought one when we went to the "Horses Tail Waterfall" (English translation) in North Central Mexico. I paid $60US for it and snuck it across the boarder in the back of the truck hidden in dirty laundry. I gave it as a gag gift to my brother-in-law but he loved it and put it up in his house (here in Texas). I've been looking for another one to give to my Unlce for his new hunting cabin but can't find one. I'll have to ask my cousin in Mexico to buy and send me one. BTW I also saw a complete stuffed baby cow that was positioned lying down when at the waterfall.

Gents-- I wish I could tell you the name of the cow head store!! I looked back through my photos to see if I snapped one of the outside of the store, but no such luck. :( All I can tell you is that these were located somewhere in the town of Zacatecas in Mexico. If you're feeling particularly ambitious, try searching online for "cabeza de vaca disecada" which means "stuffed cow head" in Spanish... A few websites come up with options, though someone who speaks Spanish will probably be necessary to make any purchases!

Good luck & sorry I can't be of more help!!

Nancy-- yes, I think it is a midwest thing... you see enough things mounted & you become numb to how tacky/sad/horrifying they are...

Leah-- where does your bro live in Nebraska?? Have you been for a visit? ;)

Gringa-- You raise a good point...not sure why cows have not been elevated to "proudly display on wall of man cave" status...

Jenn-- even better, when you have a house guest staying overnight, sneak into their room & place "emu" on floor right next to their bed. Then set up video camera to record hilarity that ensues when guest wakes up to two beady little eyes staring down at them... :)

While not necessarily decorative, the "emu" would be brilliant near an entry way or around a surprise corner. Just think of the surprise/fear/confusion of your house guests! I bet you people would believe that you actually had a pet "emu" running around your house.
